About New Faces - NF Vol One - NF Vol Two - NF Vol Three - NF Vol Four

About The New Faces Compilation CD
New Faces is a periodic compilation CD release by Road Records recording studio. In the first few volumes the production cost was paid for by the recording artists, but now Road Records finances New Faces and provides it as a free service for recording artists.

The material for the New Faces compilation CD is now selected by the Road Records staff. Most complete artist and band albums are picked for a cut on the compilation. The CD's are not sold, they are given away for free. This serves to increase awareness and exposure for upcoming recording artists as well as giving a good representation of the production at Road Records for future recording artists. Each artist on the compiltation is also given a small number of complimentary CD's.

Next Release: New Faces Volume Four will be released in early 2002.

Common Questions About New Faces:
Why don't you charge any more for New Faces?
Two main reasons: 1) Contrary to popular belief we lost money on every volume.
2) Because artists in past volumes paid to be on it, there was a lot of material that we considered weak. A lot of the artists who signed up were amateurs who weren't willing to take the time, or lacked the talent, to get a great audio recording.

By not charging, we reserve the right to hand pick the material on each album. This will assure a higher level of quality and representation for our label, as well as putting stronger artists in a better light with fellow writers and musicians.

Do I give up any rights to my material if I'm on New Faces?
No. We don't sell the copies, they are given away. This means that all material on the album is still unpublished and the artists retain all rights. The New Faces labels clearly say "NOT FOR SALE - FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES ONLY" on the back tray card.

Where does New Faces get distributed?
We send them out to radio DJ's, many from overseas, that request new material from our artists. They are also given out to new recording artists as a sample of our studio's diverse production styles. We do periodic giveaways at the Road Records website and other websites across the internet.

How many free copies do artists get?
We usually give out around 5 free copies to each artist. On the average there's 20 artists represented on each release, so that's 100 copies given away to artists. A normal production run of New Faces is 1,000 copies.

How did you get the name "New Faces"?
On our first volume we wanted to do a compilation CD but didn't know what to call it. The name was suggested by Kelly Bergstrom. Kelly was on New Faces Volume One, Volume Two and is one of our all time favorite Road Records recording artists and songwriters.
