To make money with your music you don't have to have a top ten hit. It is possible to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year without being famous. There's only so much room in the top ten, um...about ten. So why not set yourself up for success whether or not you hit the big time?

Create The Product
To make money you have to sell something. You start by creating a product. That's what we help you with at Road Records recording studio. Years ago I asked a very successful performer how he always got the crowd hyped up on his performance. He said, "I'm just selling hot dogs." This seemed very anti-art at first, but his point was that he was a salesman. Music was just his vehicle. The Road Records staff is committed to helping you develop the best product possible, making it affordable, and having it be something that will be valued for years to come.

Create The Demand
People buy what they want. You are partly responsible for creating the demand. There's two approaches. The most successful is to find an area that already has a demand, then fulfill it. The other route, the one most artists take, is to create your product and then create the demand for it.. How is that done? That's the age old question of the music and business industries. This is where your creativity comes into play. Interesting question: How come so many artists pride themselves on tremendous creativity, yet don't spend the time to imagine ways of selling their product?

Cultivate Your Audience
There will always be a group of people that like what you do. It's your job to do whatever it takes to keep those people in your audience and encourage the word to spread. Spend time with your audience after shows, develop a mailing list, always add to and change your show, repeatedly let your core followers know how special they are.

Perform, Perform, Perform
The reason to perform is to increase awareness of your art and to sell product. Most groups signed by a major label are quickly put on the performance circuit. Not only the product sold at shows, but the word of mouth trickle effect that happens everytime you perform. Very few styles and/or artists can get away without performing. If you are not willing to perform and don't already have a target audience for sales then we suggest you don't bother.

Scared of performing or worried about it not being perfect? Your first shows may well be an embarassment, but you will pass out of that and the show will improve over time. You just need TO DO IT!
