We believe very strongly in free speech. We will always try to keep our doors open to all recording projects without censorship. Our facility is meant to be a place for artists to express themselves, and our job is to help artists deliver their message.

We believe most censorship to be against the progression of the arts and science. To date we have never censored a single artist.

Why No Censorship - Aren't You A Christian Studio?
About 50% of our artists are Christian artists and ministries, but we keep our doors open to all and don't advertise ourselves as a Christian recording studio. We also produce hard core punk, rap and metal music that would be offensive to most listeners.

Why Censorship Makes Us Sick
In 1989 Conrad Askland wrote an orchestral and choir piece scheduled for performance at a public college. The piece was a devout religious work in Latin. The director, a substitue hack having no background in early music, thought the piece was Satanic and banned the piece the day before the performance. From that day forward Mr. Askland has made a commitment to help all artists present their message without censorship.

Conrad Askland also was majoring in music composition at Pacific Luthern University in 1984 when his works were banned at the student concert and called "pornography". He still considers the pieces to be some of his best work.

Stravinsky found God late in life and composed "The Rite Of Spring". The piece was dedicated to the glory of God but the sound for the time was very dissonant. To our ears it would sound like the soundtrack from "Damien Omen". There were riots at the premiere. The piece is now part of the regular repertoire of modern orchestral music and generally revered and loved by the classical community.

A Historical Perspective
There are always "sounds" that modern culture thinks is "evil". This is true now, was true in the 1970's with heavy metal, the 1950's with rock, the 1930's with 12 tone music, the 1890's with chromaticism, the early 1800's with larger orchestras, in early music staying with parallel fifths, and on back to ancient greece with certain modes and scales. It's nothing new and the whole thought of an evil "sound" is ridiculous.
